Summer 1957-Winter 1966/67

TEE 31 - Rhein-Main

Introduced in the summer of 1957 as an early connection from Frankfurt to Amsterdam. Departure in Frankfurt about 7.00 arrival in Amsterdam about 12.50. Stops: Frankfurt-Mainz-Koblenz-Bonn-Köln-Düsseldorf-Duisburg- Oberhausen-Emmerich-Arnhem-Utrecht-Amsterdam. During summer 1958 and winter 1958/59 jointly running with Saphir between Frankfurt and Köln. In summer 1965 the stop in Oberhausen was left out. In the course of time some speedup with a departure of about 7.15 and an arrival of about 12.20. In the summer of 1967 renumberd in TEE 35.

TEE 32 - Rhein-Main

Reversal of TEE 31. Departure in Amsterdam about 17.00, arrival in Frankfurt about 23.00. The stop in Oberhausen was abandoned in summer 1965. In the course of time speeded up with a departure of about 17.45 and an arrival of about 23.50. Renumbered in TEE 36.

Summer 1967-Winter 1970/71

TEE 35 - Rhein-Main

Renumbering of TEE 31. In the summer 1970 put a bit earlier and speeded up with a departure of about 7.00 and an arrival of about 11.50. Renumbered in TEE 22.

TEE 36 - Rhein-Main

Successor of TEE 32. Put about 30 minutes earlier in the summer of 1970. Renumbered in TEE 23.

Summer 1971-Winter 1971/72

TEE 22 - Rhein-Main

Successor of TEE 35. Renamed in van Beethoven.

TEE 23 - Rhein-Main

Renumbering of TEE 36 with modified timing; departure about 18.05 and arrival about 22.55. In the winter 1971/72 truncated to Bonn, arrival about 21.10. Summer 1972 renamed in van Beethoven.

Summer 1972-Winter 1978/79

TEE 22 - van Beethoven

Successor of Rhein-Main. In the summer of 1978 put about 15 minutes earlier. During the summers of 1977 and 1978 (daylight saving time in the Netherlands but not in Germany) departure time was the same, arrival time one hour later. The service was abandoned in summer 1979.

TEE 23 - van Beethoven

Renaming of Rhein-Main. Put about 10 minutes earlier in summer 1975. In summer 1976 extended to Nürnberg with stops Bonn-Koblenz-Wiesbaden/ Wiesbaden-Frankfurt/Frankfurt-Aschaffenburg-Würzburg-Nürnberg. Departure about 16.15, arrival about 24.00. In winter 1978/79 truncated to Frankfurt, with an arrival of about 21.35. During the summers of 1977 and 1978 (no DST in Germany) departure was one hour later with the same arrival time. Abandoned in summer 1979.
