Summer 1957-Winter 1962/63

TEE ZH/77 - Helvetia

Introduced in summer 1957 as a connection between Zürich and Hamburg Altona. Stops: Zürich-Basel-Basel Bad-Freiburg-Baden=Oos- Karlsruhe-Mannheim/Mannheim-Frankfurt/Frankfurt-Hannover-Hamburg- Hamburg Dammtor-Hamburg=Altona. Departure about 7.40, arrival about 18.10. In the summer of 1958 a stop was added in Göttingen. In the course of time the train was speeded up to a departure of about 7.35 and an arrival of about 17.30. The number ZH was used in Switzerland, the number 77 in Germany. Renumbered to TEE 77.

TEE 78/HZ - Helvetia

Reversal of TEE ZH/77. Departure about 12.20, arrival about 23.15, later speeded up with a departure of about 12.45. In the summer of 1958 the stop in Göttingen was also added in this direction. The number 78 was used in Germany and the number HZ in Switzerland. In the summer of 1963 renumered in TEE 78.

Summer 1963-Winter 1970/71

TEE 77 - Helvetia

Successor of TEE ZH/77. In the summers of 1968, 1969 and 1970 the train was succesively speeded up with an arrival of about 17.00, 16.55 and 16.50 resepctively. Renumbered in TEE 72.

TEE 78 - Helvetia

Renumbering of TEE 78/HZ. In the course of time speeded up to a departure of 12.55 and an arrival of 22.45, later a departure of 13.10 and an arrival of 22.35.

Summer 1971-Winter 1978/79

TEE 72 - Helvetia

Renumbering of TEE 77. An additional stop was added in Offenburg, the stop in Baden=Oos was abandoned. Also the running times were changed to a departure of 7.00 and an arrival of 16.20. In the winter 1971/72 a stop was added in Fulda with a 5 minute later arrival in Hamburg. In the summer of 1972 the train was delayed with an arrival of about 16.35, in 1975 speeded up again with a departure of 7.05 and an arrival of 16.30. Abandoned in the summer of 1979.

TEE 73 - Helvetia

Successor of TEE 78. Als an additional stop in Offenburg with Baden=Oos left out. Here the running times were also changed, now to 13.40 departure and 22.45 arrival. In the winter of 1971/72 the stop in Fulda was added, and in the summer of 1972 the train was slowed down to a departure of 13.30 and an arrival of 23.00. In the summer of 1973 the stop in Offenburg was abandoned (this direction only) and the times changed to an departure of 11.25 and an arrival of 20.55 (with a speed up to 20.50 in the summer of 1975). In the winter of 1973/74 the train started stopping again in Baden=Oos (also only in this direction). Also abandoned in the summer of 1979.
