Summer 1957-Winter 1966/67
TEE 168 - Ruhr-Paris
Introduced in the Summer of 1957 as a very early connection between
Dortmund and Paris. Departure in Dortmund about 5.30, arrival in
Paris about 12.30. Stops: Dortmund-Bochum-Essen-Duisburg-Düsseldorf-
Köln-Aachen-Verviers-Liège/Liège-Namur-Charleroi-Maubeuge-Paris Nord.
From Summer 1959 to Winter 1965/66 there was an additional stop in
Herbesthal. Also in later years the starting time was about 30 minutes
later while keeping the same arrival time. Renumered in TEE 42.
TEE 185 - Paris-Ruhr
Reversal of Ruhr-Paris; departure Paris about 17.45, arrival in Dortmund
about 0.30. This direction the train was not speeded up in the course
of time. Renumered in TEE 41.
Summer 1967-Winter 1972/73
TEE 40 - Ruhr-Paris [Summer 1971-Winter 1972/73]
Renumbering of TEE 42. In the winter of 1971/72 the service was
shortened to Düsseldorf with a departure time of about 7.00.
Renamed to Molière.
TEE 41 - Paris-Ruhr
Successor of TEE 185. In the summer of 1969 the stop in Bochum was
abandoned and a new stop in St. Quentin introduced (unlike the other
direction that did not stop here). At the same time departure in
Paris moved some 10 minutes to about 17.55. In the winter of 1970/71
the train was speeded up to an arrival at about 0.00. In the winter
of 1971/72 the service was shortened to Düsseldorf with an arrival
time of about 23.15. Renamed to Molière.
TEE 42 - Ruhr-Paris [Summer 1967-Winter 1970/71]
Renumbering of TEE 168. In the summer of 1969 the stop in Bochum was
abandoned. In the winter of 1970/71 the train was speeded up with
a departure in Dortmund of about 6.15 and an arrival in Paris of
about 12.10. In the summer of 1971 renumberd in TEE 40.
Summer 1973-Winter 1978/79
TEE 40 - Molière
Successor of TEE 40 Ruhr-Paris. In the summer of 1975 shortened to
Köln with a departure time of about 7.15. From the summer of 1977
the train was speeded up with an arrival in Paris of about 12.00,
and in the summer of 1978 the stop in St. Quentin was also added in
this direction. In the summers of 1976 to 1978 (daylight saving time
in France but not in Germany) the train had the same departure time in
Germany with an arrival in France one hour later. The service was
abandoned in the summer of 1979.
TEE 41 - Molière
Successor of TEE 41 Paris-Ruhr. The story is similar to the preceding
story. In the summer of 1975 it was shortened to Köln with an
arrival of 22.45. There was a slight speed-up in the summer of 1977
with an arrival of 22.40. During DST in France and not in Germany
the train started one hour later witht the same arrival time in Köln.
Also abandoned in the summer of 1979.
